Developing scenarios that evoke shoot/don't-shoot errors

چکیده
Multiple errors can occur in a use-of-force scenario, although some critical involve unintended casualties where the target should never have been fired upon. Training instructors utilize variety of methods to ensure military and law enforcement personnel do not inflict casualties. However, there is little empirical evidence about best design shooting simulation that might evoke these errors, which validity any assessment or training exercise. The current study analyzed performance across simulated scenarios developed applied for purposes. Several factors were assessed based upon either scenario human performance. Scenario type, number shots fired, ratio hostiles-to-non-hostiles significant predictors likelihood inflicting an casualty. This collected help improve future simulations will avoid errors.

Words that Evoke Schemas: The Need for Optimal Vagueness
Although young children typically have trouble reasoning relationally, they are aided by the presence of relational words (e.g., Gentner & Rattermann, 1991) and can reason well about commonly experienced event structures (e.g., Fivush, 1984). Two experiments examine how schema-evoking words help preschool-aged children generalize relational patterns. Experiment 1 shows the superiority of schema...
متن کاملDeveloping Sustainable B2B E-Commerce Scenarios
This paper outlines the theoretical concept of a study currently under way in China. Its main idea is to explore the sustainability of centralized inter-organizational systems for supply chain management as proposed by Markus et al. ([8]). The study draws on institutional theory in both its older and its newer versions. This theory is used for selecting the method of data collection as well as ...
متن کاملDeveloping a Predictive Model of Postcompletion Errors
A postcompletion error is a type of procedural error that occurs after the main goal of a task has been accomplished. There is a strong theoretical foundation accounting for postcompletion errors (Altmann & Trafton, 2002; Byrne & Bovair, 1997). This theoretical foundation has been leveraged to develop a logistic regression model of postcompletion errors based on reaction time and eye movement m...
متن کاملMechanisms that control knox gene expression in the Arabidopsis shoot.
Knotted1-like homeobox (knox) genes are expressed in specific patterns within shoot meristems and play an important role in meristem maintenance. Misexpression of the knox genes, KNAT1 or KNAT2, in Arabidopsis produces a variety of phenotypes, including lobed leaves and ectopic stipules and meristems in the sinus, the region between lobes. We sought to determine the mechanisms that control knox...
